Alutiiq/Sugpiaq/Aleut - Alvin Amason View all items
Alvin Amason
Sugpiaq artist Alvin Amason, originally from Kodiak, is currently the director of Native Arts at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Amason is one of Alaska's best known contemporary artists. Works such as "Boy Oh Boy," a playful depiction of an oystercatcher, include expressionistically painted images that are both good- natured and insightful. Amason's creations are featured at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, the Alaska Native Heritage Center, and many other galleries and public spaces across Alaska and worldwide.
