George was born at Shishmaref on December 26, 1977. He attended school at Shishmaref and graduated in May 1996. George then started whale bone and ivory carving. He made small pieces to begin with and then started making big bone carvings about four years ago. The materials he use are bone, baleen, walrus ivory, mastadon and polar bear hair. George's carvings are in museums, galleries and the newest gallery Alaska House in New York.
