Ed Mighell is part Inuit and a member of the Arctic Slope Region. His ancestral village is Point Hope on the Chukchi Sea in the western edge of arctic Alaska. He lives in Anchorage, Alaska, and works on sanitation projects in rural areas where piped water and sewer services are rare. Things are getting better. He is 46 years old, and his brothers and sisters are now older than when his mother and siblings had died of alcohol related causes. Ed works in the UAA print shop while earning a civil engineering degree.
